

Major Aemee H. Parrott was born in Kwang Joo, South Korea, on 15 November 1978. On 9 July 1979, she was adopted, brought to Bakersfield, CA, and naturalized in 1984. On 7 December 1998, she reported to Company N, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC, for recruit training. Upon graduation in March 1999, Private First Class Parrott reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC, and then to Marine Corps Communications and Electronics School, Company C, Marine Corps Ground Combat Training Center Twentynine Palms, CA, for training as a Direct Air Support Operations Operator.
In September 1999, Lance Corporal Parrott received orders to Marine Air Support Squadron 3, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA, to serve in the Direct Air Support Center (DASC) as an operator. While stationed at MASS-3, Lance Corporal Parrott participated in the following exercises: Combined Arms Exercise (CAX), Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course, and additional division and regimental level training evolutions. Also while stationed at MASS-3, she served in the billet of Administrative Clerk, earning the additional MOS of 0151.
In October 2001, Corporal Parrott received orders to MASS-1, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. During her time attached to MASS-1, Corporal Parrott participated in three CAXs, one WTI, and the Dynamic Mix exercise in Spain as a Crew Chief in the DASC. In February 2003 she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as an operator and Crew Chief. Upon her return and following her reenlistment, Sergeant Parrott submitted a package and was accepted to the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program. She reported to the prepatory school aboard MCRD San Diego, CA, in May 2005.
Following completion of the school, Sergeant Parrott reported to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, in August 2005. She completed Officer Candidate School in August 2006 and was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant that same month. On 21 December 2007, Staff Sergeant Parrott graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and minor in Women’s Studies and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.
Second Lieutenant Parrott graduated from The Basic School, MCB Quantico, VA, in October 2008. The following month she reported to Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21, Pensacola, FL, for initial instruction as an Air Traffic Control Officer. After graduating in April 2009 she reported to Marine Air Control Squadron 2, Detachment Bravo, MCAS New River, NC From there, she was attached to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS New
River, NC, where she received her initial Ground and Final Controller qualifications. In December of 2009 she was promoted to First Lieutenant. First Lieutenant Parrott returned to MACS-2, Det B, in March of 2010 where she served as the Assistant Detachment Commander, Assistant Security Manager, Uniformed Victim Advocate, and Assistant Operations Officer.
In October of 2010, 1stLt Parrott took over as the Detachment Commander. In addition to supporting the aviation command and control mission, from February 2011 to September 2011, 1stLt Parrott led the detachment as the Detachment Commander when they deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 11.1 at five separate Forward Operating Bases located in Regional Command Southwest Afghanistan. Captain Parrott received orders to MCRD Parris Island, SC, in August 2012 and reported to Company O for duty as a Series Commander with Series 4032. She completed 4 cycles as a Series Commander and was then transferred to Support Battalion where she served as the Separations OIC before taking command again as the Instructional Training Company Commander.
In July of 2015 Captain Parrott received orders to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 38, MCAS Miramar, CA. During her tour she served as the Operations Officer for the Squadron, Adjutant, and Training Officer. Also during this time she completed her advanced level training as a student and graduate of Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, MCAS Yuma, AZ, earning an additional MOS of 7277.
July of 2017 Major Parrott was frocked to the rank of Major and was selected again for Command as the Service Company Commander for Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCRD San Diego, CA. She served as the Commander for 5 sections and over 300 Marines, Sailors, and civilians. Following this tour she was transferred to work at the G-3 as the Special Visits and Projects Officer where she supervised and executed dozens of distinguished visitor tours and visit to the Depot including the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Navy, multiple US General Officers and General Officers from various other foreign militaries. Additionally, she served as a key member of the Operational Planning Team for the COVID-19 response and the integration of females Marines into the historically male entry level training program at MCRD San Diego both as recruits and Drill Instructors.
Major Parrott retired in January of 2021 after over 22 years of distinguished service to our nation. Major Parrott’s decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with one gold star; Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of 3rd award; Good Conduct Medal with two bronze stars in lieu of 3rd award; Presidential Unit Citation; National Defense Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Navy Unit Commendation; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; and the NATO/ISAF Ribbon.
